1. DO I HAVE TO REGISTER A DOMAIN NAME?
It is a good idea to register a unique web address or domain name. ( eg: www.mysite.com.au ) There is a regular fee paid to register or renew your domain name. It is best and most efficient to register your domain name through a licensed registrar. If you are wanting to host a website then you need a domain name in order to do this. You can register through Visual Voodoo Studios by or you can bring your own if you already have one.
2. I ALREADY HAVE A DOMAIN NAME, CAN I STILL GET A WEBSITE BUILT?
Yes you can. Simply let Visual Voodoo Studios know you have a domain already and we will just change the DNS and Host Names to point your domain to the correct place. It is actually a very simple process and your website can be propogated in a few hours
3. CAN I TRANSFER MY DOMAIN NAME SO EVERYTHING IS IN THE ONE PLACE?
Yes you can. this is a very simple process and Visual Voodoo Studios can do everything that is needed to complete this process. It is a free process to transfer your domain and the next time your domain is up for renewal we will remind you.
4. DO I OWN MY DOMAIN NAME ONCE I HAVE REGISTERED IT?
With some companies when you register with them the domain name remains legally owned by the web firm you have chosen, however with Visual Voodoo Studios you are the legal owner of your domain if you register through us.
5. CAN I MOVE THE DOMAIN TO ANOTHER WEB FIRM?
It is not wise to move the domain from Visual Voodoo Studios while you are hosting with us however should you ever choose to host with another firm at a later stage then yes you can. It is generally a free service to transfer a domain, however from time to time there may be small costs involved in releasing the domain.
6. WHAT IS WEBSITE HOSTING?
Website hosting is the space that your website needs to sit on a server. Without this space you will never be able to point your domain name to it nor will you ever be able to see the website you have had built. Every single website that is viewable on the internet has a host of some kind. This space is usually rented on a monthly basis.
7. CAN I HOST WITH ANYONE?
Many web firms will offer hosting for your website, however it is suggested that you ensure you are aware of the location of the servers and the ability to contact them should you find a problem. An example to this is overseas servers are far cheaper to run and therefore the web firm can make more profit from you when they bill you, however should something happen to the server it takes many days to actually get a result. Visual Voodoo Studios however uses our own Australian made and ran servers right here in Mulgrave, a south eastern suburb of Melbourne.
8. I AM NEEDING A WEBSITE FOR MY BUSINESS, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT?
